Move Mood is an 8-minute video documenting the non-verbal communication between children at a fancy dress party. A wide variety of gestures including simple hand movements, demonstrative facial expressions, pseudo-dance moves and posturing combine and evolve into a complex field of improvised, non-verbal communication. The film uses a minimal score by Nichola Scrutton to punctuate and highlight the social interaction between the masked participants of the party. Precise observations of the children as their moods fluctuate and form as gesture are connected together by fields of colour. Move Mood was photographed by David Liddell.
Move Mood has been screened at X-Ray at the Persevence in London, Diversions Film Festival, Edinburgh Filmhouse and Artists Film & Video at the BBC in Pacific Quay, Glasgow in association with the National Gallery of Modern Art and the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art.
